Shropshire Safeguarding Community Partnership are urging those with care and support needs who are suffering from abuse to come forward and seek help.

The call out marks the annual National Safeguarding Adults Week next week (16th to 22nd November 2020).

The campaign let by led by the Ann Craft Trust promotes the importance of safeguarding the health and well-being of adults, particularly those with needs for care and support across the UK.

One of key priorities of the partnership is to work together to help and protect adults who have care and support needs; are experiencing or at risk of abuse or neglect; and are unable to protect themselves against abuse or neglect because of their care and support needs.

Safeguarding and Community Safety Partners continue to meet regularly to ensure people remain safe from abuse and neglect during COVID-19.

Ivan Powell, Independent Chair of Shropshire Safeguarding Community Partnership

“One key priority of the partnership is to work together to help and protect adults who have care and support needs when they are at risk of abuse or neglect. This is especially during this challenging time because the pandemic places more challenges on how we can work together. The National Safeguarding Adults Week provides us with the opportunity continue to raise awareness during these difficult times and to remind staff and volunteers about their responsibilities, and how they can support people to be safe.

“It is important to talk to someone sooner rather than later if you are an adult who has care and support needs or know or care about an adult with care and support needs and are concerned that they are being abused or neglected.”

If you have concerns ring 0345 678 9044 to discuss them with and get further advice and support from Shropshire Council First Point of Contact.
